Maria Salazar is a driven and passionate graduate student pursuing a Master of Public Health and International Development at the University of Pittsburgh. Her academic focus is behavioral and community health sciences and governance & international public management. She is also pursuing a certificate in global health. Maria's interest in global health and science started during her undergraduate studies at Allegheny College, where she majored in neuroscience and global health. She graduated in 2020 and quickly started working with local communities through the All for All Coalition as an AmeriCorps VISTA. In this role, she coordinated several projects to promote the inclusion of immigrants and refugees in the Pittsburgh region. Maria has been part of the Latino community in Pittsburgh since 2014, when she moved to the United States with her family from Venezuela. Her passion for social justice has also led her to research topics such as Global Health, Migration, Social Movements, Transnational Politics, and Intersectionality.
